I'm giving people 24 more hours and then, if no one else has commented, Janel is the winner!

Hi JayCee!!

I came to your blog after seeing your post about Orlando on Amanda's Baby Bangs blog. My hubby and I live in Orlando, and Disney has been our favorite Date-Night Destination and Birthday Hot Spot for years!! I have a six year old son, so hopefully our expertise can help :) (Forgive me now, for I've a feeling this comment will be a doozy!)

As far as which two parks I'd recommend for the two days you'll be visiting...Bar None, Hands Down you need to do Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. I'll tell you why.

Magic Kingdom has an incredible array of fun and magical rides~ most of which are PERFECT for little boys! My son loves the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, Swiss Family Treehouse, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion (can be scary for small kids, but as weird as it is, my son likes to be scared), Buzz Lightyear ride, and especially the Tomorrowland Speedway (go carts on a track! Fun!!). The best advice I can give is to really review the map before you leave to figure out the things you will want to accomplish by the end of the day, and figure out which rides you'll want to get a Fast Pass for. Fast Passes will save your life if it's a terribly hot day and the lines are never-ending. ALSO~ plan on eating during the "off" times and riding rides during the normal lunch and dinner hours. The lines for the restaurants aren't nearly as long if you choose to eat mid-morning or mid-afternoon, while the ride lines tend to be a lot smaller around noon and 5:00 - 6:00. Also, if you can get away with not watching the parades, the lines are much smaller during that time as well. If you want something to eat but don't want the traditional turkey leg or hamburger, I recommend the Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square. They have a really yummy tuna sandwich that I get every time.

Our favorites at Animal Kingdom are definitely the Dinosaur Ride (every boys' favorite...except for the scary dinosaur!), all of the "fair" type rides in Dino Land, the Kilimanjaro Safari is a MUST, and also the Maharajah Jungle Trek and Pangani Exploration Trails. The Maharajah has a wonderful tiger exhibit that we can spend hours at~ sometimes when they are restless they will come right up to the glass, and it feels like you could just reach out and touch them!! Animal Kingdom is also more of a cultural experience, so if you are a travel buff or love learning about other countries, this is a great park for you! Our favorite place to eat at Animal Kingdom is the Flame Tree Barbecue restaurant. They have a smoked pork sandwich that is mm mm good. :)

The only other thing I can advise on is really to pack LIGHT. You don't want to be lugging stuff all over the park, especially on a hot day. I'd recommend using an old backpack and leave your purse at the hotel. We typically pack our wallets, bottles of water, snacks (fresh fruit, chips, crackers, etc), a couple of towels (you never know), and a small jacket for our son in case he gets chilly at night. Be sure to put sunscreen on before you leave the hotel, and keep your water bottles to refill them throughout the parks (that will save you money!!).

Also, another favorite splurge at both parks is our favorite afternoon snacks...at Magic Kingdom we always get a fresh churro while in Frontierland (not too far from the Columbia House), and at Animal Kingdom we always get chocolate-covered frozen bananas (found on the ice cream carts throughout the park). These places used to only take cash, but Disney wised up to their consumer and these carts now take credit cards.

Hope all of this helps!!!! :) :) :) You can email me if you have any other questions: xilovethelistx@yahoo.com

Have fun!!!!!!
