Memorizing God's Word

Memorizing God's Word really makes a difference in my life. I find myself meditating more on the verses and living them out more in my life if I'm memorizing them. I'm trying to review all my verses so that I continue to remember them.

One good way to memorize is to make an association or word game with the verse. For instance: If you choose Phil. 4:8 to memorize you could group it like this to remember it easier.

"Finally, brothers, whatsoever is:
Pure, whatsoever is
Right, whatsoever is
Excellent, whatsoever is
Praise-worthy, whatsoever is
Lovely, whatsoever is
Admirable, whatsoever is
Noble, and whatsoever is
True, think on these things."

If you can remember the word "pre-plant", then you can memorize the verse easier.

Here are my four verses so far this year. I'm trying to remember them right now off the top of my head and not look at anything, so let's see how I do.

Jan 1: Prov. 16:19 "Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud."

Jan 15: Is. 46:8 "Yes, Lord, we wait for you. Your name and renown are the desires of our hearts."

Feb. 1: Ps. 62:5-6 "Find rest, O my soul in God alone; my hope comes from Him. You, alone, are my rock and my salvation; my refuge; I shall not be moved.

Feb. 15: Rom. 12:17-18 "Do not repay evil for evil. Do good in the sight of everybody. As much as it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

I'm not sure I got those word for word, but they are pretty close. It's amazing that I can't remember where I laid my keys five minutes ago, but I can remember scripture. That just shows how powerful and alive and active God's word is. Thank You, Jesus!

Yuk....Six More Weeks!

By most accounts, "Mr. Ground Hog" saw his shadow today, so you know what that means!!

How can it be in the teens one day and 50 something a couple of days later?

Yikes....don't know if I'm ready for 6 more weeks of this. At least, we have a warm day every once in a while.

Can anyone out there think of anything good about six more weeks of winter???? I'm trying to look on the bright side, but I'm having trouble. Could somebody please help a girl out????
